P · flat
A flat seat. You can get out of the horse’s way over a fence without fighting the saddle. Hunter and jumper work that wants a free position.
L · semi-flat
A semi-flat seat. Still a jumping position, with a little more to sit against so you stay when the course asks.
M · semi-deep
A semi-deep seat. More of a chair than P or L. Equitation, or a rider who wants support, still close enough for the jump.
